Design Review Reflection

For this two-page team assignment, I focused on introducing our community partner and the critical users as well as our project's impact. The main portion of my contributions include the following:

Introduction: Our community partner, SafeChat Silicon Valley, is an online chat and call program that connects people who are facing domestic violence, sexual abuse, or human trafficking with an advocate for emotional support and next steps. The critical clients we aim to help are these survivors of domestic abuse.

Impact: Our project intends to positively impact the physiological aspect of the users. With the implementation of this texting platform, the users will have easier access to the emotional support they are searching for. One of SafeChat’s goals is to have more survivors make use of their resources so that the numbers align with the high number of visitors they receive on their website. This new form of connection to the SafeChat advocates will allow the users to receive support without worrying about the need for the internet and a computer. This will benefit the users physiologically by providing another option for the users to gain this emotional support. The critical users will benefit from this texting platform because they will be able to access the resources SafeChat offers at the ease of their phones which will increase the number of users that talk to SafeChat advocates. Our team understands the benefits of SafeChat to our society and we are eager to assist more survivors in receiving the emotional support and resources they deserve.
