Status Update Presentation

For this team assignment, I mainly worked on organizing the presentation, adding the project overview, writing down our initial progress, completed tasks and remaining steps, and the challenges we have delt with and potential problems. The highlights of my work are shown below:

Project Overview:

• An online chat and call program that connects people who are facing domestic violence, sexual abuse, or human trafficking with an advocate for emotional support and next steps

• Critical Customers: survivors of domestic abuse

• Motivation: we are eager to help provide more resources to these survivors and make their support more easily accessible

• Problem Statement: SafeChat intends to accommodate the increase in domestic violence against their target users who are facing domestic violence, specifically those ages 18-34, by creating a texting program. Their target demographic consists of individuals who are more likely to utilize texting due to the increased comfortability of individuals with texting (SafeChatSV).

Initial Design Progress:

• Presented multiple SMS implementation options to Safe Chat

• Decided that using LivePerson is the best option for their organization

  • LivePerson is the current host on their website and other services

• Working on gathering the hourly website/chat traffic data

  • With this we will analyze the optimal hours for SafeChat to have chat advocates online

• Suggested incorporating google translate to make their website bilingual

  • To support more survivors

Challenges/Potential Problems:

• LivePerson not responding or giving SMS add-on quote

• Difficulty coordinating meeting times with SafeChat that all can attend

• Slow responses from SafeChat leadership
